Dr. Gerhard Ehlker
After studying mechanical and process engineering at MIT, USA and RWTH Aachen, Dr. Gerhard Ehlker has gained more than 20 years of professional experience in technical, managerial and business functions in international corporations at E.ON SE and Siemens AG as well in top management and strategy consulting at McKinsey & Company, Inc. and TWS Partners AG.
Dr. Ehlker is a specialist in the field of strategy and business development as well as strategic sourcing with extensive international experience in various industries, in particular the automotive, high-tech, utility and manufacturing industry.
Based on the industry structure as well as analyses of the clients’ business, Dr. Ehlker develops superior portfolio, regional, innovation/trendsetting, M&A strategies and thus meets and exceeds pre-defined targets.
With his profound expertise in the application of Game Theory and Industrial Economics, Dr. Ehlker advises various industrial companies on the successful preparation and execution of negotiations and auctions, both in Procurement and Sales.
Maximizing incentives for suppliers and expanding the supplier base by strengthening existing and qualifying new suppliers are crucial elements for improving the bargaining power in Procurement. It also provides the basis for a fully committed, transparent and project-specific awarding process be it an on-site negotiation or an (e)auction. Structures and processes are customized to foster commitment and to ensure an efficient cross-functional cooperation. Dr. Ehlker effectively applies Procurement 4.0, e.g., when digitizing core purchasing tasks, including negotiations and auctions.
In Sales, Dr. Ehlker analyzes bidding or auction rules, identifies courses of action and develops optimal bidding tactics for his clients under rational consideration of market share and margin.
As a guest lecturer, Dr. Ehlker has been teaching “Applied Game Theory and Industrial Economics” at Augsburg University of Applied Sciences, Faculty of Business since 2017.
